Morganite was named after J.P. Morgan, one of the most famous gem collectors and financer in history by his friend and customer George Kunz in 1910.
Morganite belongs to the Beryl family like Emerald and Aquamarine. The colors range from Peach to Pink and in-between. The color of Morganite is due to the presence of traces of Manganese. Morganite is treated by irradiation and then heated to about 400 degrees centigrade to bring out the Peach and Pink colors.
